Fsc Produces 10,000 Metric tons of Sugar

Lautoka, Fiji – The Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited has reached a notable milestone by surpassing the 100,000 Metric tonne threshold in sugar production for the season. As of September 25th, 2023, FSC has successfully produced 100,215 Metric tons of sugar across the three mills. FSC has shipped 50,060 Metric tons in total from Labasa and Lautoka ports, and another 34,820 Metric tons are due to be shipped in the next week. A molasses vessel is also expected to be in port in the week.

The season’s production figures, broken down by mill, are as follows:

The Chief Executive Officer expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the dedication shown by the FSC team and the cane growers, which made this milestone possible. Crushing season continues at the three mills, with just over half a million tons of cane left to be crushed.
The sugar industry remains a vital component of the economy. The recent budget support for various activities such as cane planting grant, fertiliser and weedicide subsidy, assistance for upgrade of drainages, farm mechanisation, etc., as announced by the  Government, has been received well by the growers. The support mechanisms highlight the commitment to the sugar industry’s growth. We are grateful to the Government, the employees, growers and stakeholders for their relentless efforts and continued commitment to the success of the industry.
