FSC Confirms Labasa Crushing Extension; Rarawai and Lautoka Mill Updates to Follow

Extension of Crushing at Labasa Mill

The Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited (FSC) advises all growers supplying cane to the Labasa Mill that, due to recent heavy rainfall and the resulting disruptions to harvesting and transportation, the crushing season has been tentatively extended to Friday, 5 December 2025.

Growers are encouraged to take full advantage of this extension. FSC’s field team will closely monitor harvesting activities and cane deliveries throughout this period. Weather conditions will also be reviewed daily, with adjustments to the deadline made as necessary.

FSC assures all farmers, harvesting gangs, and transport operators that we will continue to provide full cooperation and support to ensure all harvestable cane is cut and delivered within the extended timeframe.

Our entire field team, supported by additional staff, will be available to assist with any extra coordination required. We urge farmers to maintain their momentum and initiative during this crucial window.

Rarawai and Lautoka Mill Updates

Further announcements regarding the Lautoka and Rarawai mills will be made next week.

Post-fire reinstatement trials at the Rarawai Mill are progressing, and FSC remains hopeful of commencing crushing by early December, subject to the absence of unforeseen technical or mechanical issues. Stakeholders supplying cane to the Viti Levu mills, from Rakiraki to Sigatoka, are therefore advised to remain calm as preparations continue.

FSC also appeals to all growers to reduce cane burning and maintain steady field operations.

FSC stands ready to provide all necessary assistance, but the primary drive must come from our farmers as we work collectively towards a successful crushing season.
