Fire Incident at Rarawai Mill – Investigations Underway

The Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited advises that a fire incident occurred at the powerhouse of the Rarawai Mill in Ba, resulting in extensive damage to sections of the facility. FSC is pleased to confirm that all employees are safe and no injuries have been reported.

The National Fire Authority (NFA) and Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) teams are currently undertaking investigations to determine the cause of the incident and to assess the full extent of the damage sustained. A detailed report will be provided upon the conclusion of these assessments.

In the interim, operations at the Rarawai Mill will remain suspended until further notice. All lorry drivers who had been dispatched to the Rarawai Mill, along with those present at the yard, have already been redirected to the Lautoka Mill. Lorries within the sector will also be advised to proceed directly to the Lautoka Mill to ensure continuity of supply and to minimise disruption to farmers and stakeholders.

FSC will continue to keep its stakeholders and the general public informed as additional information becomes available. The Corporation acknowledges the swift response of the emergency services and expresses its appreciation to all parties assisting with the management of this incident.
